Associate Provost for Curriculum and Liberal Learning

The Associate Provost for Curriculum and Liberal Learning coordinates the cross-College undergraduate academic programs that are not housed in any particular school or department, including: Faculty-Student Collaboration; the First Seminar Program (FSP); Global Engagement; Honors; Liberal Learning; the Self-Designed Major; the Summer Reading Program; and Writing. The Associate Provost is directly responsible for the Liberal Learning Program and supports and coordinates the directors and coordinators of the other programs.

Dr. Christopher “Kit” Murphy has served as the associate provost since 2014. He received an associate’s degree from Lewis and Clark Community College, a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois and a Ph.D. in neurobiology and behavior from Cornell University. Prior to joining TCNJ, Dr. Murphy served as chair of the Department of Biology at Indiana State University and, prior to that, as a faculty member and coordinator of the mathematics and science portion of the General Education program at James Madison University. His research focuses on acoustic communication in treefrogs. He lives in Pennsylvania with his wife and daughter.
